Call for Workshop and Tutorial Proposals

Call For Workshop Proposals

VALUETOOLS 2019 invites workshop proposals on specific topics related to methodologies and practices in modelling, performance evaluation and optimization of complex systems. The main objective is to create a forum where specific aspects can be discussed. Workshop organizers will determine the format of the workshop, and they can include invited talks, panel discussions, work in progress, or/and full papers. The length of the workshops can vary from half day to a full day.

The workshops will be held on March 12th, 2019

A workshop proposal should be no more than 2 pages in length, submitted in PDF format. The following details are required:

  • Workshop title
  • Organizing committee. Having more than one organizer is strongly advised. Name, contact details and a short bio, and previous experience in the organization of similar events.
  • Estimated number of attendees
  • Details about previous editions, if any, including links to the corresponding websites, proceedings, or any other important information
  • A description, specifying the focus of the workshop and its goals.
  • A brief justification of the relation with the main conference topics and the target audience of the workshop.
  • The list of the committed and proposed members of the technical program committee.

Workshop organizers will be responsible of the following tasks:

  • A web page with the details of the workshop. The web page will be linked from the main conference web page.
  • The submission process of the workshop papers. The workshop papers are a maximum of 6 pages in ACM format (https://valuetools.org/authors-kit/).
  • The review of the papers. All the workshop papers must be reviewed at least by 2 members of an international and broad technical program committee of the workshop.
  • The notification of the authors
  • The checking of the camera ready papers, template guidelines and paper length. All the papers must follow the same template than the main conference papers (please check the conference site).

At least one author for each paper must register and attend the workshop.

If the final number of papers in a workshop is very small, the workshop chair may propose to merge it with another workshop. In extreme cases, we may negotiate the cancellation of the workshop. So we encourage workshop organizers a broad and active advertising of the workshop. Additionally, the program committee of Valuetools can suggest the inclusion of borderline papers of the main conference in any of the workshops.

Important dates:

Workshops proposal submission: September 15, 2018 September 22, 2018

Acceptance notification: September 30, 2018

The submission of the workshop proposal must be sent by e-mail to the workshop chair (Carlos Guerrero, [email protected]).
